Meet the Theules
We are a busy family of six . . . Tim, Susie, Sage, Eden, Zeke and Haak. We moved to the Central Coast back in 2003. After living in SLO for 5 years, we jumped at the opportunity to move to the country and build a house. We wanted some space, a place for our kids to run and enjoy the outdoors, and a bit more peace and quiet. It was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.
Soon after building The Big House, we fell into the opportunity to rent it as a vacation rental. We wholeheartedly believe that the gifts we’ve been given, which include our home and property, are to be shared, so we’ve put that into action by opening up our home. Non nobis solum means “not for us alone,” and we take this to heart! While a ton of work, it’s also been a tremendous blessing that’s enabled us to bless others and to pay for college and do other fun stuff as a family.

What's the deal with "Wild Hair Retreats"?
Welcome to Wild Hair Retreats, a growing collection of stunning, family-owned vacation getaways on the Central Coast of California.
After 11 years of occasionally renting our family home as a short-term vacation rental (see Meet the Theules), first on VRBO and then on AirBNB, we have now expanded our short-term rental offerings through the addition of two new beautiful and unique getaway spaces.
Why WILD HAIR?
As we look back on our lives, we see not one, but a whole bunch of “wild hair” ideas. . . that became dreams. . . and then risk-taking decisions. It’s been wild, fun, and utterly unexpected. It’s been hard and crazy-busy, but an incredible blessing. And so, since 2010, we’ve affectionately called the property we acquired and the house we built our “Wild Hair Ranch.” And now as the wild hair dreams continue and we’ve wandered into the 2.5-acre organic farm right next door, with what will soon become two more unique Airbnb experiences, it only seemed fitting to lean in and call this next iteration “Wild Hair Retreats.”
Why RETREATS?
We originally purchased and built in this beautiful little valley because we were looking for a retreat from our two very busy professional lives. A place out of the fray off the beaten path. A place to escape, rest and regather. A place to enjoy space with our kids. This place has been all that, and so much more. And over the last 11 years, our home and property has been a welcome retreat for our VRBO and Airbnb guests. So many family and friend groups have come from places north and south to meet in the middle right here at the Wild Hair Ranch. Many have come from busy, noisy urban areas to discover the peace and rest of our “town and country” setting. And everyone has enjoyed the delights of the Central Coast. There’s no place like it. This is our vision: we want to provide beautiful, special, unique spaces where people can RETREAT from the craziness of their go-go lives to slow down and reconnect with their true selves and the people they love. We all need this, and we’re here to help!
